Initial Session & Dog Evaluation

Our first dog training session will be between 1 – 1.5 hours due to initial information and extra time for evaluating the dog and household situations. Time range also depends on the dog’s mental stamina! All sessions start in home where the dog is comfortable and has the least distractions to learn new skills.

Training me is not an option. It is not something to be done once I start causing problems, it is how to prevent problems from starting. Teach me how to be the dog you want me to be!

Stephanie provided a wonderful training experience for me and my pups. She is knowledgeable and very patient with both dog and handler. She was able to modify the lessons to address the areas I wanted to work on and give me the tools to continue working with my dogs to attain our goals. My dogs were always happy to see her and I have seen a lot of improvement since our first lesson. I would definitely recommend her!

Working with Stephanie has been eye opening for me. Through positive reinforcement I've fostered a bond with my 1 year old Bernese Mountain Dog that feels like a true partnership. Our training exercises feel like games that respect and challenge my pup's cognitive ability, curiosity, and playfulness. My dog is curious about what I want out of our interactions and is persistent enough to figure it out! I love watching her personality bloom! One of my biggest concerns about bringing a large breed into our family was leash pulling while walking (since our 40lb cocker spaniel has always been a puller). I've learned so much about what I can do to support my dog on a walk so it is enjoyable for both of us and how to redirect my dog with minimal stress for her or myself. We now enjoy daily "loose leash" walks (a new term for me) and I'm learning how to work with a long line to expand our skills for hiking together. The last thing I'd like to share is that Stephanie is an incredibly flexible, creative, and adaptive trainer. She has developed a custom set of training games and exercises that build a strong foundation of relationship and skills with my dog, but also adapts (sometimes turning on a dime) to address our dog's and family's unique needs and desires for training. Learning positive reinforcement techniques with Stephanie has changed the way I relate to my pets and how I will interact with any animal moving forward.

Stephanie is hands down the has helped us so much!!! When I first reached out she messaged me and provided tips right away on what I could do before we first met, she’s helped my pup Otis in dealing with separation anxiety, leash training, barking at my neighbors lol and building his confidence. She’s knowledgeable and very helpful when it comes to recommendations and advice on how we can improve as owners. I would highly recommend Stephanie for any one struggling with training their dog.

Training with Stephanie has been an eye-opener, even though I have had dogs for years. She has a super positive attitude and understands that training the handler (you, the human) is just as important as the dog. She helped me to really "get" clicker training, which I had known about for years but just couldn't make it work until my sessions with Steph. My 6.5 month old Giant Schnauzer (not an easy breed to train) now has her Novice and Intermediate AKC Trick Dog titles thanks to the techniques I learned from Steph. Not only that, the sessions are super fun and you (and your dog) can't help but feel good afterwards.

My 7 month old JRT has really benefited from one-on-one training. Stephanie makes everything look so easy and the bonds that form from her method of training you can't get anywhere else. My puppy is eager to learn and loves all of the games we play - would recommend to anyone!!

I am an experienced dog owner. I haven’t been without a large dog for most of my adult life. I came to Stephanie when I started having trouble with Maverick, my big mutt, pushing humans around. Physically and metaphorically. Mav loves her and is so receptive. She has helped us immensely. We have been training with her for over a year and will continue to train with her weekly. Stephanie is adaptive and fluid with her technique. Maverick is much more relaxed since Stephanie walked into our lives. I am a much more confident handler and owner of, what used to be, a highly reactive dog. Just today my best friend walked into my house and was blown away with the progress in his behavior. My “enthusiastic greeter”, as I’ve heard him called, was relatively calm. Still very excited, but didn’t jump on her as he had in the past. Both Maverick and I are very lucky to have found such an amazing trainer (and human) to be in our lives. I am so grateful for Stephanie and her easy-to-learn training technique.

The animal is never wrong – you get what you reinforce. Ill behavior has function, including undesirable behavior. The question is not why is the animal behaving this way? But rather what's reinforcing this behavior? - Susan Friedman

Training Session Packages

After the initial session, you can choose to purchase individual training sessions or a package which offers a small discount.

Once foundational skills are acquired or observed we take training into your yard or area in-front of your home, then to new locations as the dog is ready. These sessions last about 1 hour.

I suggest 1 session per week for a few weeks to get you into the training mind set and then spread out as you feel you need the training to progress..

Be a smart dog training, consumer. 1. Ask what exactly will happen to dog when my dog gets it, right? 2. Ask what exactly will happen to my dog my dog gets it wrong? 3. Are there less invasive/aversive alternatives to what you propose?
